WHAT TO EXPECT
One hell of a party...

You’ll never hear us talk about diets or calories because JAM is all about how freedom of movement shared with others can help boost your mental & physical wellbeing.
Higher Love
We celebrate & support you exactly as you are. We’ll encourage you to attack each dance with energy and your own unique style, but it’s your time & your dime - do what feels good for your mind & your body in the moment.
All we ask is that you respect & celebrate yourselves & each other for showing up and showing out.
Hit the Beat
You’ll get a high-intensity workout through choreographed dances set to a variety of music genres like hip-hop, pop, Latin, country and jive. Most of the class is “follow-along” style to get our hearts pumping with 1-2 more complex songs broken down for you.
Once You Get It, Then You GET IT!
While each class will be different, we’ll repeat some songs over a few sessions so that you can learn over time. We’ll also have variations for more technical moves. But then, as Jamie Kinkeade - the creator of JAM Dance Fitness & founder of The Studio - always says, “Once you get it, then you GET IT!”
FAQs
DO I NEED TO HAVE DANCE EXPERIENCE?
Nope. JAM dance fitness classes are for anyone who loves dancing. And if you can’t do a certain step or forget the choreo, then just freestyle (when in doubt, dance it out).
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?
Wear clothes you can move & groove in. The key is to wear what makes you feel comfortable & confident. For shoes, wear any type of athletic shoe that doesn’t have too much grip/tread. And bring water because we will put in some WORK.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?
We’re on a break right now but will be back in Fall 2024 with more dance fitness parties. Follow us on Instagram for updates.
WHAT KIND OF DANCING HAPPENS AT JAM?
It’s a follow-along style class to a mix of genres and dance styles, including hip-hop, pop, Latin, country, jive and more. We’ll also break down 1-2 more complex songs.
IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO ATTEND?
Currently, JAM is an adult dance fitness class for those who are 18+ years old.
Is this the same JAM dance fitness that I’ve seen on YouTube/other social platforms?
If it’s JAM from The Studio by Jamie Kinkeade, then yep! Your instructor Theresa (that’s me!) was certified by Jamie herself, and I’m super excited to bring this high-energy dance party to Chicago!

Hi, I’m Theresa

I LOVE to dance, but once I got to the age where going out past 9 p.m. felt like a stretch, I stopped dancing outside of weddings or booty shaking around the house.
And then the pandemic hit. Forget dancing, I stopped moving altogether. I was working too many hours & doom scrolling social when I wasn’t. But then I found The Studio by Jamie Kinkeade on YouTube & quickly subscribed to her online program. Identity & self-worth have never come easily for me. JAM helped me find myself, and now, I make time to dance simply because it brings me joy.
Watching the positive community Jamie builds through JAM inspired me in so many ways, including going to therapy to finally start learning how to better love myself & getting certified as her first JAM instructor in Chicago.
While I’m not a trained dancer, I do know how to get a party started by drawing people onto an empty dance floor. And that’s how I view my role as a JAM instructor - party starter, groove guider and self-love supporter.
Outside of dancing, I love eating my way through Chicago, drinking craft beer, running, boxing and hanging with my hubby & our two rescue pups.
